Events and Tickets¶
Event organisers and venues can use VM Number for ticket sales, on-site payments, and add-ons. Shopping basket works for fixed ticket types and merchandise; open amount works for donations, pay-what-you-want, or variable top-ups.
When VM Number fits events¶
- Ticket types — Fixed ticket categories (e.g. "Standard", "VIP", "Day pass"). The customer selects and pays in the app (shopping basket).
- On-site sales — Merchandise, programmes, or refreshments with set prices (shopping basket).
- Donations or tips — Audience or visitors pay what they want (open amount).
- Rounding or add-ons — Variable amounts for charity or extra items (open amount).
You can use the same VM Number for tickets and on-site sales if your setup allows both modes.
Using shopping basket for events¶
For fixed ticket types or products:
- Add your ticket types or products and prices to your VM Number catalogue (e.g. "Standard ticket", "VIP", "T-shirt").
- Share your VM Number at the venue, on posters, or in pre-event communications.
- The customer opens the app, enters your number, selects what they want, and pays.
Keep names short and clear ("Friday pass", "Merch – cap") so they're easy to recognise in the app. Update the list when you add or remove options or change prices.
Using open amount for events¶
For variable amounts (donations, pay-what-you-want, or when you tell them the total):
- Communicate the amount (e.g. "Suggested donation 50 kr", or the total for a custom order).
- Share your VM Number (and a reference if useful, e.g. "Donation" or "Stand 3").
- The customer enters the amount in the app and pays.
Useful for fundraising, tips to performers or staff, or one-off purchases where the total isn't from a fixed list.
Best practices for events¶
- Display your VM Number prominently — At the entrance, at stands, and on signage so visitors can pay without queueing at a card reader.
- Use a QR code if available — Speeds up payment when many people pay in a short time.
- Use references when needed — For open amount, a short reference (e.g. "Donation", "Stand 2") helps you track where payments came from.
