Services

Freelancers, tradespeople, salons, consultants, and other service providers can use VM Number to get paid with Vipps or MobilePay. Open amount fits quotes and variable totals; shopping basket fits fixed treatments, packages, or set rates.

When VM Number fits services

  • After a job or appointment — You tell the customer the amount; they pay via your VM Number (open amount).
  • Fixed prices — You have set rates (e.g. "30 min consultation", "Haircut", "Service A"). The customer selects and pays in the app (shopping basket).
  • Invoices and quotes — You send an amount (e.g. by email or on paper); the customer enters it and pays with your VM Number (open amount).
  • On-site or in the field — No card reader needed; share your number and the amount, and the customer pays in the app.

One VM Number can cover both variable payments and fixed offerings if your account supports both modes.

Using open amount for services

When the total varies (quotes, hourly work, custom jobs):

  1. Agree or communicate the amount with the customer (invoice, quote, or verbally).
  2. Share your VM Number (and a reference if useful, e.g. "Invoice #123" or "Job Smith").
  3. The customer enters the amount in the app and pays.

References help you match payments to the right job or invoice, especially if you have several customers paying on the same day.

Using shopping basket for services

When you have fixed services or packages (e.g. "Consultation 30 min", "Standard cut", "Package A"):

  1. Add your services and prices to your VM Number catalogue.
  2. Share your VM Number (e.g. on your website, business card, or after the appointment).
  3. The customer opens the app, selects the service they had or want to book, and pays.

Use clear names that match how you describe your services to customers.

Best practices for services

  • Put your VM Number where customers see it — On invoices, quotes, business cards, or in your signature so they can pay without asking.
  • Use references for open amount — Invoice number, job ID, or customer name so you can reconcile payments.
  • Keep the service list up to date — In basket mode, update names and prices when you change your offerings.
